
Founded in 1920 as the Medical Faculty of Nizhny Novgorod State University, it became an independent Medical Institute in May 1930, and was later granted academy status in June 1994. It began offering English-medium classes to foreign students in 1998, welcoming learners from around the globe.
The university hosts 7 faculties including Medicine, Dentistry, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Preventive Medicine, Nursing, and Pre-medical courses. It employs about 600 faculty members across 70 departments and serves approximately 3,000–5,000 total students, with over 800–2,500 international students from about 38 countries.
The campus features modern academic buildings, simulation and research labs, affiliated hospitals for clinical training, and a sports complex with gym, football ground, indoor courts, and swimming pool. It’s recognized by major bodies like WHO, NMC (India), ECFMG, FAIMER, and its graduates are licensed to take exams like NEET, USMLE, and PLAB .
- Must be at least 17 years old by 31 December in the year of admission
- Completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, with minimum 50% in PCB (45% for reserved categories)
- NEET qualification required for Indian students
- Valid passport, academic certificates, NEET scorecard, medical fitness certificate (including HIV report), and passport-sized photos
