
Tbilisi State Medical University is the largest and one of the oldest medical institutions in the Caucasus region. It was founded in 1918 and gained independent status in 1992, following the Bologna process to align with European standards. It offers programs in General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Public Health, and more, all recognized by global bodies such as WHO, NMC (India), ECFMG, and WFME.
The university provides a six-year MBBS program, comprising 5 years of academics and a 1-year clinical internship. Instruction is available in English, Georgian, and Russian. With state-of-the-art labs, simulation training facilities, digital libraries, and three affiliated teaching hospitals, TSMU supports high-quality medical education for approximately 7,500 undergraduates and 3,000 postgraduates, around 25–26% of whom are international students.
TSMU maintains strong global connections through exchange programs and academic collaborations with universities in Europe, Asia, and North America. It actively supports student development via cultural events, research clubs, and partnerships under European and international education initiatives.
- Must be 17 years or older by December 31 of the admission year
- 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English; at least 50% in PCB (40–45% for reserved categories)
- NEET qualification required for Indian applicants
