
Karaganda State Medical University (KSMU), located in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, was established in 1950 and is one of the most prestigious and oldest medical universities in the country. It is a public, government-recognized institution known for its innovation in medical education and research. The university offers a full 6-year MBBS program (5 years academic + 1 year internship), taught in English, Russian, and Kazakh.
The university is accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, the World Health Organization (WHO), FAIMER, and other global bodies. It currently enrolls over 6,000 students, including a significant number of international students from India, Nepal, Pakistan, and other countries.
KSMU operates its own university hospital and over 50 affiliated clinical bases, ensuring strong early exposure to clinical practice, modern simulation-based learning, and experienced medical faculty.
- Must be 17 years or older by 31 December of the admission year
- Completion of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English
- Minimum 50% in PCB (40–45% for reserved categories)
- NEET qualification is mandatory for Indian applicants
- Required documents: Passport, 10th and 12th mark sheets, NEET result, medical fitness certificate (including HIV test), passport-sized photographs
- Hostels: The university provides 6 dormitories with shared rooms (2–3 students), kitchens, laundry facilities, Indian mess, Wi‑Fi, and round-the-clock security
